This session examines why speaking in a new language is not just the end goal but one of the most challenging skills for learners to master. Pre-listening priming through phonics, teaching listening micro-skills and examples of ideas / activities.
Speaking: From Supported Practice to Spontaneous Output

Sentence manipulation before free talk, speaking ladders and structured progression and constrained output tasks.
Reading & Writing: From Text to Independent Production

Micro-reading and text deconstruction, read-aloud and teacher modelling, model texts and co-construction and writing from memory.
